Sompo has a unique opportunity for a VP, Claims Operational Excellence Leader in our North America Claim Operations team.

We are seeking an execution-focused Claims Operational Excellence Leader to drive change across our North America commercial claims organization. This individual will lead the modernization of processes, technologies, and culture to deliver exceptional customer outcomes, operational efficiency, and scalable innovation.

What you'll be doing:

  • Design and lead the end-to-end operational & efficiency strategies for insurance claims, aligning with corporate objectives, customer needs, and market demands.

  • Define and execute a roadmap for digital claims capabilities including automation, AI/ML integration, workflow redesign, and advanced analytics.

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives with stakeholders in IT, Operations, Underwriting, Legal, Customer Experience, and Risk.

  • Reimagine and simplify key commercial claims processes to reduce cycle times, improve accuracy, and enhance service quality.

  • Build a data-driven culture by integrating analytics into day-to-day claims decision-making.

  • Develop performance dashboards, predictive models, and reporting tools to track impact and identify improvement areas.

  • Communicate vision and progress to senior executives, frontline teams, and partners with transparency and clarity.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree in Business, Technology, or related field preferred

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial insurance with 5+ years focused on claims operational & efficiency strategies or enterprise change initiatives

  • Deep knowledge of commercial claims processes (e.g., general liability, property, workers' comp, auto, specialty & financial lines)

  • Proven success leading digital and operational transformation in complex insurance environments

  • Strong project/program management capabilities (Agile/Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus)

  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to influence across all levels of the organization, from frontline adjusters to C-suite

  • Experience working with or implementing modern claims systems (e.g., Guidewire Claim Center)

  • Understanding of emerging technologies such as AI, RPA, OCR, and blockchain in the insurance context

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving results in fast-paced environments

  • Passionate about improving customer experience and employee engagement
