Job Description:
Louisiana State University invites applications for the WAE Care and Foster Youth Support position with LSU Cares. Reporting to the Case Manager of LSU Cares, this position triages students to the appropriate resources during times of crisis, distress, or concern. This position will also focus on developing a Foster Youth Support Program. Through their work in LSU Cares, the Care & Foster Youth Support staff member will help promote the divisional priorities of commitment to quality, communicating a sense of home, and designing with everyone in mind. As a WAE hourly employee, this is a maximum 29 hour a week opportunity.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:
- Triages students to the appropriate resources during times of crisis, distress, or concern, including initial meetings, campus and community referrals, follow-up, and other efforts to provide thorough and effective education for students in need.
- Assist students of concern in partnership with campus constituents.
- Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders regarding interdisciplinary intervention efforts, including but not limited to, Care team members, student health practitioners, academic counselors, faculty, staff, parent/families, and others.
- Assist with the creation, developing community partners and campus education for the Foster Youth Support Program.
- Attends and communicates with Care team members as needed for follow up on existing cases and initiation of new cases.

ABOUT THE DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRS PRIORITIES:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Case Management (65%): Triages students to the appropriate resources during times of crisis, distress, or concern, including initial meetings, campus and community referrals, follow-up, and other efforts to provide thorough and effective education for students in need. Assist students of concern in partnership with campus constituents. Builds partnerships and collaborates with appropriate stakeholders regarding interdisciplinary intervention efforts, including but not limited to, Care team members, student health practitioners, academic counselors, faculty, staff, parent/families, and other support persons. Advocates and connects with campus and community resources for students of concern.
Programs and Trainings (30%): Assist with the creation of the Foster Youth Support Program. Help with building/maintaining community and campus stakeholder partnerships. Providing education of the Foster Youth Support Program to community and campus stakeholders. Bring exposure to the Foster Youth Support Program.
Other Duties As Assigned (5%): Other duties as assigned by the Case Manager for LSU Cares. This includes but is not limited to: LSU Cares support, efforts that support broad division/institution efforts and other special projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education and at least one year of related experience OR Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
- LSU values skills, experience, and expertise. Candidates who have relevant experience in key job responsibilities are encouraged to apply- a degree is not required as long as the candidate meets the required years of experience specified in the job description.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education in social work, counseling, higher education administration, or a closely related field.
- 2 years experience
- Interest in working with vulnerable populations, interest in working in Higher Education administration or related field.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS/EXPECTATIONS:
As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
