General Summary:

The Madison Warehouse Supervisor will oversee and rotate through the following departments and is the primary contact for more than one department simultaneously. These include the picking, receiving, and shipping departments, while providing floor support and adjusting staffing as needed. The essential duties and responsibilities are listed for each department.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Monitors and provides feedback to the Warehouse Manager regarding team members, operational needs and any other information that may delay or affect the operation.
  • Creates and maintains a healthy team work environment by responding to issues and working proactively to resolve them.
  • Support and mentor Jaeckle's Core Values.
  • Ensure that employees have appropriate training, resources (SOP's) and cross training opportunities to perform their jobs in an efficient and effective manner
  • Write and administer bi-monthly one on one coaching reviews.
  • Conduct periodic meetings with assigned staff to communicate company policy, process changes, workload, or safety procedures
  • Support Operational Excellence by supporting a culture of constant improvement.
  • Innovate to add value by supporting Jaeckle's Spotfire, CRM, Telogis and WMS technologies.
  • Ensure that the warehouse is kept clean and organized and in a safe working condition. This includes conducting the monthly facility safety inspections.
  • Ensure that all warehouse employees follow company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform the functions of a warehouse associate when needed.
  • Attend conferences and training as required by management.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or required by management.

Order Picking

  • Directly responsible for supervising the warehouse pickers.
  • Monitor and adjust daily work load, based on staffing and demand.
  • Ensure picking priorities are being met in a timely manner in order to meet deadlines. This includes confirming all associated paperwork documentation has been completed and transmitted.

Receiving/Inventory Management

  • Supervise and train personnel to receive and put away all products per documented SOP's
  • Maintain acceptable production and quality levels to ensure the performance metrics of the business are met
  • Ability to maintain accurate inventory utilizing a Warehouse Management System
  • Supervise the monthly cycle counting schedule for second shift
  • Investigate inventory issues, receiving errors, and adjustments to inventory to determine root cause, and provide recommendations to Warehouse Manager to improve quality and provide backup support to the Inventory Specialist.

Shipping

  • Provide support for Logistics Coordinator when needed.
  • Supervise and train shipping personnel to achieve corporate objectives in quality and productivity
  • Manages shipping orders and assigns shipping duties as required to meet customer commitments
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective outbound shipping processes.
  • Work within and promote established safety and quality standards
  • Supervise and train personnel on dock operations, truck loading, delivery routing and safety requirements utilizing documented procedures
  • Required to be on call periodically.

Requirements

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Proficiency and comfortable with technology, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a basic level of mechanical abilities
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to communicate effectively via email/telephone and in person
  • Strong customer service orientation with a demonstrated sense of urgency.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate both written and verbally cooperatively with others
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs to 100lbs and stand for 8 consecutive hours.

Education, licenses and experience:

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 3-5 years experience working in a lead/ supervisor role in a warehouse setting.
  • Prior management/supervision experience in a manufacturing environment
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Current driver's license
  • Forklift experience
  • Computer and Microsoft skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience developing team members
  • Experience leading a team of 10 or more warehouse associates.
  • Experience using a Warehouse Management System
  • Working knowledge and experience of bar code scanning processes.
