Welder

Job Responsibilities

• Perform MIG, TIG, and/or spot welding on carbon steel and stainless steel components used in switchgear assemblies.
• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
• Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, fitting, and fixturing.
• Inspect welds for accuracy, penetration, appearance, and overall quality; correct deficiencies as needed.
• Maintain dimensional tolerances critical to switchgear fit-up and assembly.
• Operate fabrication equipment such as grinders and saws as required.
• Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements.
• Work collaboratively with assembly, quality, and engineering teams to meet production schedules.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, efficiency, and safety.
• Other duties as assigned and needed

Required Experience and Qualifications:

• High School diploma/GED and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field. Welding certificate a plus.
• Exposure to warehouse environment (able to stand for long periods of time, able to move product as required).
• Knowledge of various safety standards such as OSHA and any state safety standards
• Knowledge of industry standards such as NETA, OSHA, IEEE and NFPA
• Proven mechanical skills and/or experience with different types of low and high voltage equipment (requirement varies on location).
• Able to effectively solve problems.
• Basic computer skills for data entry, looking up information, and/or creating reports.
• Able to communicate oral and written communication skills; follow directions-written direction, oral direction, reading work orders and/or specs as assigned; work in a team environment and communicate with team, various departments, and/or Customers as business needs dictate.
• Customer Focused-able to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and produce a quality work product
• For positions that utilize a company vehicle, you will be required to have a valid driver's license.
• Able to read blueprints and drawings along with taking measurements to plan layout and procedures
• Able to determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
• Able to set up components for welding according to specifications
• For positions that utilize a company vehicle, you will be required to have a valid driver's license.

Additional Information

Travel: Up to 5%

Physical Demands: Lifting to a maximum of 50 lbs. without assistance or use of a lifting aid, crawling, climbing, standing for long periods of time, and working in non-ideal conditions. Repetitive motion using tools for welding.
