Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Welder to join our team in Dothan, AL. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with metal components, welding equipment, and construction drawings. This role involves fabricating, repairing, and assembling metal structures for a wide range of commercial projects, including buildings, vehicles, pipelines, and manufacturing applications. Candidates should be proficient with welding tools, safety procedures, and precision measuring instruments.
Key Responsibilities
Operate welding and fabrication equipment (e.g., calipers, rulers, power saws, angle grinders, clamps) to assemble metal parts and structures.
Read, interpret, and analyze blueprints, construction drawings, and design plans.
Mark up construction drawings with the correct specifications and adjustments.
Collaborate with Thermal Engineers and Site Construction Managers to coordinate tools, materials, and supplies required for each project.
Select appropriate metals and materials according to design requirements.
Choose and operate the proper welding equipment and techniques for specific metals and project scopes.
Ensure all work meets safety, health, and environmental guidelines to prevent accidents and hazards.
Identify welding issues, structural defects, or potential hazards and communicate them promptly.
Use precision tools to measure, align, and fit metal components accurately.
Support build and repair work across various sectors such as construction, manufacturing, auto body, aviation, and specialty projects (including underwater or structural builds, if applicable).
Qualifications
Required:
Proven experience as a welder or metal fabricator.
Strong understanding of welding processes (MIG, TIG, stick, etc.).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Skilled in using welding tools, grinders, calipers, rulers, and fabrication equipment.
Knowledge of safety protocols and OSHA standards.
Ability to lift and move heavy materials as needed.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
Welding certification(s) (AWS or equivalent).
Experience in commercial construction or manufacturing settings.
Familiarity with ordering materials and coordinating with engineering teams.
