Job Description – Work Planner
Summary
The Work Planner is responsible for developing and/or reviewing work packages that include time, material, and labor estimates, as well as creating detailed step-by-step work instructions and procedures. This role ensures safety, quality, and compliance for operations, maintenance, and modification activities within assigned facilities or areas.
The planner will work across multiple disciplines—mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiological—providing expertise and ensuring that all work packages meet operational and safety standards. Responsibilities may also include resolving work restraints, coordinating with stakeholders, and bringing work packages to final closure.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and review work packages for operations, maintenance, or modification work.
Create and verify time, material, and labor estimates.
Write clear, detailed, step-by-step work instructions.
Ensure compliance with all safety, testing, and procedural requirements.
Support planning for mechanical, electrical, chemical, or radiological work activities.
Identify and resolve work restraints.
Coordinate with supervisors, technicians, engineers, and safety personnel as needed.
Bring work packages to final closure, ensuring all documentation is complete and compliant.
