Job Title: Workforce Development Specialist

Department: Recruiting Admissions

Reports To: Senior Manager of Workforce Development & Education

FLSA Status: Exempt

General Statement of Duties

The Workforce Development Specialist will serve as the first line of support for the prospects, students and program completers in the Workforce Development & Education division of Focus: HOPE. This position will be responsible for outreach and recruitment, admissions and client processing, case management, and job placement and retention.

The Workforce Development Specialist will also assist with the prep, staffing and evaluation reporting requirements of events. The Workforce Development Specialist works directly with and cultivates relationships other organizations and stakeholders throughout the region.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for outreach, recruitment and marketing for all Workforce Development & Education programs and initiatives
  • Evaluates assessments to determine program eligibility, barriers, strengths and weaknesses as well as career goals
  • Intake of prospective students/application processing leading to enrolled students
  • Integration and/or reinforcement of soft skills through student interaction and activities such as workshops and lunch and learns
  • Provides case management duties including monitoring and documenting client progress as well as execution of case management strategies to connect students and completers with resources
  • Career placement/employer engagement and retention
  • Assists prospective student/applicant with finding and benefiting from community resources. Partnering with other resource agencies
  • Story capturing for marketing
  • Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Protect the confidentiality of all files and documents under their immediate control
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Supervision Received:

Perform duties under the supervision of the Senior Manager for Workforce, Development & Education

Requirements

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, education, human resources, or related STEM field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience within a non-profit environment or in training development
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to pass drug screen
