Job Title: Events Technician

Hourly Rate: $20.22 - $24.73
General purpose: The Event Technician position is responsible for providing technical assistance in MICA performance spaces and assisting the Technical Manager of Performance Spaces in their duties.
Summary of Essential Functions
Act as the primary technician at events
Under some supervision, execute assigned work including setting up and running events
Assist with the maintenance of the performance spaces and its environs
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Regular assignment as the Falvey Hall, BBOX and other performance space's primary technician for AV and Lighting systems.
Setup Portable AV system for events across campus
Assist in the installation of AV equipment
Assist in the installation of Lighting equipment
When needed, oversee and train student employees on AV and lighting equipment.
Work with clients during events to provide full technical support.
Assist with the setup and preparation for events, classes, visitors, etc.; concert/performance/gallery/exhibit set-up and break down; move objects, furniture, trash, etc. from buildings to various locations.
Required to lift, carry, push or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials; reach, stoop, kneel, climb, and crouch to gain access to spaces, and may involve both indoor and outside work and the use of hand tools and power tools associated with the building trades.
Perform sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and removing of trash.
Maintain a clean and professional appearance and demeanor
Perform other related duties as assigned
Troubleshoots technical issues and resolve problems quickly as they arise and all Technical Manager if needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of: environmental health and safety; must follow safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals
Skills: projection, sound, and/or lighting in a live production or corporate setting
Ability to: to perform basic math as well as read, write, and speak English to understand and communicate written/verbal instructions
Ability to: follow instructions, work independently or as part of a team, work well and cooperatively with people from different backgrounds, problem solve, ask questions, think through solutions, work flexible hours, and stand for long periods of time.
Minimum qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: projection, sound, and/or lighting in a live production or corporate setting
Ability to lift 50 pounds above head
Ability to lift 100 pounds with a partner
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Work weeknights and Weekends
Knowledge of either Sound, Lighting , and or Live Production
Preferred Qualifications:
Event Management experience
3-5 Years AV and/or lighting experience
Familiarity with analog sound consoles, Presonus StudioLive 64s or similar digital sound consoles, and ETC Eos, Express, and Smartfade lighting consoles
Ability to run digital boards using an ipad or Laptop.
Basic knowledge of digital film and Digital Cinema Packages
Knowledge of Qlab,MAC, and PC applications
Working knowledge of Zoom and live stream equipment
Proficiency in programming lighting for stage and events and shall possess a good understanding of production practices and procedures

Work environment: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually (minimal, moderate, or high).
Required training: Handbook orientation, Anti-Harassment, Hazard Communication, Emergency Plans & Fire Prevention, Personal Protection Equipment. (additional training may be added, SEE: EHS Manager training schedule)
