As a member of our hospitality team, the primary responsibility of a Kitchen Shipping & Receiving Clerk is to manage the shipping and receiving operations within the kitchen area by receiving, storing, shipping, and delivering incoming and outgoing department packages and mail. This role is responsible for receiving all deliveries, checking their accuracy, maintaining detailed records of shipping and receiving transactions, and handling the packaging and shipping of outgoing mail. A crucial part of this role is to secure the receiving room and direct deliveries to the appropriate areas ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of goods and packages in and out of the kitchen.

  • Receive and inspect all incoming deliveries to the hotel, ensuring that they match the corresponding purchase orders and are in good condition.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate logbooks for all shipping and receiving transactions, recording relevant information such as tracking numbers, delivery dates, and recipient names.
  • Responsible for shipping all outgoing mail and packages, properly packaging and labeling them to ensure safe and timely delivery.
  • Ensure the security of the receiving room and its contents, implementing necessary measures to safeguard against theft or damage.
  • Direct deliveries that are not under the jurisdiction of the receiving room to the appropriate areas or departments within the hotel.
  • Regularly clean and maintain all mail room equipment (if applicable), such as mail sorting machines or postage meters, to ensure their optimal functioning.
  • Adhere to the hotel's policy on package turn-around times, promptly notifying recipients of package arrivals and organizing efficient pick-up or delivery processes.
  • If applicable, handle the delivery, sorting, and collection of mail within the hotel, distributing it to the appropriate recipients and maintaining an organized mailroom area.
  • Maintain a well-organized and clutter-free receiving and mail room, ensuring that all packages and mail are stored in designated locations for easy retrieval.
  • Collaborate with other departments or staff members to coordinate the timely delivery of packages or important documents.
  • Report any issues or discrepancies with incoming or outgoing shipments to the appropriate authorities, taking necessary actions to resolve any problems promptly.
