Job Description

Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Medicine Physician to provide high-quality, acute care in a fast-paced Emergency Department (ED) environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in managing urgent and emergent medical conditions and be committed to delivering patient-centered, evidence-based care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver emergency medical care, including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of urgent and life-threatening conditions

  • Administer critical interventions, including resuscitation and stabilization procedures

  • Perform both minor and major procedures such as laceration repair, wound care, endotracheal intubation, and central line placement

  • Manage complex clinical presentations such as cardiac events, trauma, neurological crises, and respiratory emergencies

  • Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests, lab results, and imaging studies

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity and quality of care

  • Provide clinical oversight and consultation to physician assistants (PAs) and nurse practitioners (NPs)

  • Accurately document all care activities in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system

  • Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA, VA policies, and patient safety standards

  • Participate in quality improvement and performance monitoring initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Emergency Medicine (strongly preferred)

    • Physicians Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine must have at least 2 years of recent emergency department experience within the last 5 years

  • Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required

  • Must meet all credentialing and privileging requirements prior to the start of work

  • Proficiency in emergency medicine procedures and experience managing a high-acuity, high-volume ED

  • Familiarity with VA EHR systems (e.g., CPRS/VISTA or Oracle Cerner) preferred

Work Schedule:

  • The Emergency Department operates 24/7, 365 days/year

  • Physicians must be available to work day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts on a rotating basis
