Job Description

The purpose of this basic entry level position is to perform simple work assignments involving supervision oversite to determine course of action consistent with established functional and organization's policies and tax code. This position requires familiarity of basic concepts in functional area to perform routine work activities with regular supervision. Typically, will interface with departmental staff and commitment to customer service is important.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE

2 years of related work experience in customer service

Must complete TDLR courses 101, 102, 4 and 7 within two years of employment preferred.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

General Responsibilities (Broad responsibilities that are consistent across job families)

  • Committed to providing excellent public service.
  • Provide clerical and administrative assistance to support department.
  • Assist other work groups within the District based on workloads at any given time.
  • Greet visitors and callers, route and resolve information requests.
  • Keep team and supervisor informed regarding the progress and status of work activities.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintain ownership and mailing address information for the HCAD records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Technical Responsibilities (Division specific responsibilities)

INFORMATION & ASSISTANCE: Ownership Research

  • Assist property owners and public with resolving issues via written and oral communication.
  • Perform ownership, mailing address changes and research to resolve ownership issues from various sources, research tools and title plants.
  • Review and verify accuracy of subdivision property transactions received physically via mail and electronically via the Electronic Name Change Application prior to updating.
  • Process simple metes and bound to locate correct property owned.
  • Provide ownership research assistance to other departments and divisions.
  • Maintain HCAD records and database.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Positions in this class typically require repetitive motions, sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time in an office setting.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this class typically require repetitive motions, walking, talking and hearing. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time with ability to reach, bend and move up/down on steps. Must be able to lift up to 50-pound file boxes. The position requires considerable concentration, creativity and ability to manage time effectively. The position is subject to stress caused by a changing public environment, mandatory deadlines and heavy workload. Requires the ability to ask questions that will bring forth the information needed to make sound decisions.
