Job Description
The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University seeks an instructor to teach HS 212A-1, Contemporary Issues in Gender and Public Policy, a four-credit graduate course in the fall 2025 semester.
This course analyzes contemporary gender-related policy issues, including health, domestic violence, militarism and foreign policy, reproductive rights, equal employment opportunities, and child and dependent care. With a primary focus on the U.S., it examines the implications of these issues for women worldwide, with an emphasis on how gender narratives are framed and their implications for policy, as well as the intersection between gender, race, sexual identity, socio-economic class, and culture. In-person classes are scheduled to run from 5:40 pm to 8:30 pm on Wednesdays (08/27/2025 - 12/11/2025). The expected enrollment is approximately 15 students.
Candidates with a PhD or equivalent degree and demonstrated experience in teaching at the college or university level will be given preference. Interested individuals should submit a cover letter, CV, a draft course syllabus, and names and contact information for two references. The deadline for first consideration is July 25, 2025.
This appointment is for a position in a collective bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local 509.
