About the Role:
Are you ready to lead in a fast-paced, high-impact laboratory environment? We're looking for a dedicated Laboratory Supervisor to join our team and play a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of lab operations. You'll be responsible for supervising day-to-day activities, ensuring quality and safety compliance, and guiding a talented team of lab professionals.
What You'll Do:
Provide daily supervision and support to technical, clerical, and service staff
Coordinate scheduling and workflow in partnership with the Laboratory Managers
Troubleshoot technical issues and assist technologists in interpreting lab results
Prioritize workload to ensure timely and accurate processing of specimens
Manage inventory levels and supply orders to maintain operational efficiency
Maintain up-to-date Standard Operating Procedure manuals and required documentation
Champion a culture of safety and compliance, ensuring all protocols are followed
Oversee orientation, training, and competency assessments for lab staff, ensuring adherence to:
Specimen handling, processing, and test analysis procedures
Proficiency testing protocols
Quality control, equipment calibration, and maintenance
Corrective action processes for test system issues
Prompt identification and resolution or escalation of problems
Thorough documentation of all deviations and corrective measures

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree Medical Technology required or Bachelor's Degree Laboratory Sciences required and Other Certificate/Diploma Clinical Laboratory Sciences required
Licenses and Credentials
Medical Technologist (ASCP) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred
Experience
lab experience 3-5 years required and supervisory experience 1-2 years
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- The knowledge, both practical and theoretical, of tests and procedures necessary to review findings and advise and direct subordinates in action.
- Demonstrates advanced level of analytical skills and judgement.
- Must have relatively high level of analytical ability to work with complex instrumentation, resolve technical equipment problems, relate test results to normal and pathological states, and interpret quality control data.
- Must have understanding of computer technology and its application to analytical procedures and quality control.
- Must have a comprehensive understanding of laboratory equipment and its operation, maintenance and repair and analytic techniques.
- Must have the ability to work independently, evaluate situations and act appropriately.
- Detailed knowledge of applicable federal, state and accreditation requirements.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of test principles, equipment operation and computer system operations.
- Make appropriate decisions, develop and complete follow-up actions in conjunction with lab leadership.
- Must be able to perform as a senior team member, providing direction and guidance to less experienced technologists.
- Must have the ability to pay careful attention to detail and to adhere to written protocols, including communication to lab leadership when issues are identified.
- Must be able to perform as a team member.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact professionally and effectively with numerous staff including physicians, hospital personnel, employees, and patients.
