Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions
Volunteer Program
- Maintain NASA Docent volunteer schedules
- Coordinate NASA Docent orientations and trainings
- Work closely with Museum Leadership on creation and implementation volunteer recognition programs and special events.
- Identify outreach opportunities such as fairs, festivals, local markets, and organizations
- Aid in ordering of supplies for NASA Docent program
- Support NASA Docent programming by training volunteers, answering volunteer questions, setting up activities, etc.
- Work closely with U.S. Space & Rocket Center leadership to fulfill any volunteer needs
Guest Services
- Ensure that high guest service standards are enforced and that they are conducted in a professional, courteous manner that reflects quality and the Mission, Vision, and Spirit of the USSRC.
- Respond to and, whenever possible, resolve questions and complaints promptly and in a manner that reflects the Mission and Spirit of the USSRC.
- Comply with USSRC safety procedures to ensure safety of guests and employees.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education
Education: BS Degree in Business, Communication, Marketing-PR, Education, or closely related field experience preferred.
Required Experience
Work Experience: Min of 1 year of closely related work experience in a similar guest relations environment. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with guests and employees. Must be able to work efficiently as part of a team. Must be able to quickly learn new processes and be highly motivated.
Computer Experience: Must be able to use 101 key keyboard, knowledge of DOS and Windows based operating systems and some knowledge of basic. Must be able to use word processing and spread sheet applications.
Physical Requirements
This position has the following special requirements:
- Walking, climbing (stairs) to/from other buildings to access other departments and to oversee, observe and interact with guests and employees.
- Standing to address guest issues or assist staff in assigned areas.
- Sitting for long periods of time (4-6 hours).
- Carrying, lifting items and supplies up to 20 pounds shoulder height.
- Bending, kneeling, reaching to operate simulators and retrieve supplies.
- Sight, reading, wrist movements, feeling to operate computer terminal, cash register, etc.
- Talking, hearing to instruct employees and assist guests in person and over the telephone.

- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Environmental Factors
- This position involves working in both a climate-controlled office environment and outside where exposed to various weather conditions and changing temperatures.
Expected Hours of Work: 10-3 with some weekend and after-hours work required
