Department:

Materials Management

Works under the supervision of the Assistant Director and the Supervisor to decontaminate, process supplies, instruments and equipment for all departments of the Hospital. This position is responsible for pulling surgical cases, providing service and support functions to the Operating Room, SRMC, and other departments of the Hospital as assigned.

  • Transports and delivers equipment between floors, departments and patient rooms.
  • Works in the Decontamination Room per procedure.
  • Applies appropriate cleaning/disinfection techniques and sterilization procedures for all equipment, instrumentation, devices, and technology that are processed through the department.
  • Works with hazardous chemicals and contaminated waste.
  • Stocks all inventory items to par levels and all specialty carts throughout the hospital.
  • Checks sterile package for integrity and for manufactures out dates.
  • Uses machinery such as Steris, Sterad, Autoclaves, ETO Sterilizer, and Airclean Cidex system.
  • Uses computer Preference Cards to pull cases for Surgery and SRMC.
  • Receives loaner equipment and instrumentation from vendors per procedure and verifies that sets are complete. Organizes return of decontaminated inventory to vendor.
  • Verifies correct data to facilitate accurate charging and crediting of patient accounts.
  • Wraps sterile trays and items for processing after inspection and assembly.
  • Assembles and disassembles basic traction configurations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. This includes, but is not limited to, orientation of new personnel, par level inventory controls, keeping a clean work environment, and special projects as assigned.

Education: Work requires knowledge generally acquired through a high school education or GED. Medical terminology desired.

Licensure: None.

Experience: Previous experience within a surgical or sterile processing environment preferred.

The hourly rate for this position is $29.90 - $32.96. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.
