Summary:
Meets planned growth, profit, maintenance base and customer retention goals through leadership and management of staff. Implements the Business System while redeeming customer obligations in a timely, cost-effective, high-quality manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The role involves a comprehensive set of responsibilities focused on leadership, staff management, and strategic execution to achieve business goals. Here's a summary of the key duties:
- Annual Plan Management: Redeem the annual plan through bookings, activities, sales costs, and profit management, ensuring leadership and staff management in designated markets.
- Systems and Training: Understand and manage project and maintenance agreements. Train staff on systems, pricing, and sales strategies to minimize risks and improve performance.
- Price Escalations and Customer Retention: Train staff to evaluate and sell price escalations, establish escalation policies, and handle cancellations effectively. Assess risks and manage credit and collections.
- Account Management: Approve new accounts based on credit policy and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maximize revenue and problem resolution.
- Billing and Budget Compliance: Monitor billing for optimal cash flow, expedite payments, develop and comply with budgets, and establish purchasing policies.
- Documentation and Proposals: Ensure prompt, accurate documentation and high-quality proposals. Train staff in preparing and auditing paperwork.
- Sales Goals and Strategy: Train and support the sales force to meet booking goals, develop sales campaigns, and establish pricing policies. Assist in evaluating and pricing service agreements.
- Time Management and Performance: Implement effective time management, set goals, and evaluate staff performance. Handle personnel actions and motivate staff.
- Field Support and Labor Costs: Provide materials, support, and staffing to maximize productivity and control labor costs. Maintain high morale and achieve profit objectives.
- Policy Review and Administration: Regularly review and improve operating and sales policies. Develop annual plans, market penetration strategies, and handle customer complaints effectively.
- Mechanical Systems Knowledge: Understand mechanical systems for accurate appraisals and recommendations.
- Project Opportunities and Customer Relations: Identify project opportunities, coordinate staff, and address customer concerns to maintain positive relationships.
- Reporting and Mid-Year Reviews: Prepare detailed reports and proposals, conduct mid-year reviews, and build a network of potential recruits.
- Special Projects and Additional Duties: Support special projects as assigned and perform other duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Experience/Education:
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or seven to ten years of related experience.
- 3-5 years of building automation or controls experience required.
- Proven success in coaching and developing people.
- Strong understanding of proactive sales funnel management and tracking sales activity.
- Critical thinker and problem-solver with a growth mindset.
- Ability to travel within the assigned territory as needed, including potential overnight travel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in computer skills and use of software platforms, business systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Zoom, and shared cloud-based drives.
- Self-motivated, confident, independent, and organized.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with clients and team members.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Sitting for prolonged periods at a desk while using a computer.
- Typing and using a mouse frequently throughout the workday.
- Lifting and carrying light office supplies, such as paper or small packages, typically weighing up to 10 pounds.
- Reaching and bending to access file cabinets and shelves.
- Using a telephone for extended periods to communicate with customers and employees.
- Visual acuity to read and interpret documents, emails, and computer screens.
- Hearing ability to understand and respond to customer inquiries and communicate with colleagues.
- Ability to traverse uneven surfaces and climb ladders during site visits.
