Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing and performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all facility systems and equipment. This role involves both hands-on technical work and leadership responsibilities, including guiding and mentoring junior technicians, prioritizing work orders, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and company standards. The Lead Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in preventative maintenance programs, troubleshooting complex issues, and contributing to the overall upkeep and improvement of the facility. Strong communication with Supervisors and impacted employees. Ability to perform cleaning, greasing and oiling large plastic injection molding machines, replacing air, oil and water filters, basic repairs, inspecting, adjusting and/or replacing worn parts, recording work performed on machines, inventory of oils, greases, filters and supplies, safety checks on machines, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Responsible for safe operation and handling procedures in work area. Create and complete work orders in computer system. Good attendance and attitude.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise a small team of Maintenance Technicians.
  • Provides guidance, training, and technical support to junior technicians.
  • Assists in scheduling and assigning daily tasks to the maintenance team.
  • Excellent understanding of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic components.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Effectively communicate with management, other departments, and external vendors regarding maintenance issues and project status.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, company policies, and Lockout/Tagout procedures. Conduct safety inspections and promote a safety-conscious work environment.
  • Lead the team in identifying root causes of equipment failures and implementing effective solutions.
  • Issue PO's and follow-up on Maintenance projects while providing status updates
  • Monitoring training of the technicians and provide guidance on maintenance processes and procedures
  • Inspection of all electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic components.
  • Maintain safety features on equipment.
  • Maintain records on repairs and PMs to meet the requirements of the maintenance department.
  • Maintain cleanliness standards always per Housekeeping Responsibilities.
  • Assist manufacturing as required.
  • Work with outside vendors on projects
  • Utilize safety equipment always, as appropriate for the work being performed
  • Actively participates in the safety program.
  • Completes special projects assigned by the Facility Engineering and Maintenance Manager.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time in temperature extremes.
  • Positions require full range of body motion including twisting, bending, reaching, squatting, and lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to mount/dismount and operate industrial equipment and vehicles.
  • Ability to stand and be mobile for a minimum of 8 hours.
