Job Description

Job Description Summary:

Support cost accounting and financial analysis for business operations for assigned region within Aviagen North America. Oversee all forecasts and annual budgeting process. Responsible for producing various financial analysis and reports for management in regards to production cost per unit, cost drivers and variances etc., department expenses, and overall business objectives. Supports development and evaluation of various business case scenarios including expansion and capital projects. The position reports to the Regional Vice-President and works closely with the Corporate Finance team as well as other internal departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support leadership as a point person for all operational focused initiatives including production cost per unit, cost drivers and cost variances.
  • Maintain internal modeling and system maintenance for quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting.
  • Prepare analysis for large capital projects spending including tracking and reporting.
  • Conduct Ad Hoc analysis to support strategic direction and business objectives. Summarize and report findings to management in concise manner.
  • Prepare monthly analysis reports related to operational focuses.
  • Provide year-end audit support for operations to external auditors.
  • Analyze monthly benchmarking activities and investigate / report variances to management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Agriculture / Poultry knowledge a plus but not required.
  • Minimum 5-10 years' experience in accounting / analysis roles with demonstrated record of accomplishment of increasing responsibilities.
  • Capable of analyzing data to reason and reach conclusions with minimum guidance.
  • Competent in the application of accounting, finance, auditing, and cost control technologies.
  • System requirements include strong working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) and a working knowledge of ERP systems (i.e. Microsoft GP).
  • A team player who can relate to people at all levels of the organization and who possesses excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and a positive professional image.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to meet duties and responsibilities with minimum supervision. Dependability, accuracy, and highest integrity are essential.
  • Confidentiality required as information handled is proprietary and confidential to the company.
  • Someone who takes ownership of their responsibilities and meets deadlines.
