Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the nonprofit and team that will eventually cure Type 1 Diabetes. Join a strong Chapter team and work closely with the development staff, local leadership, regional teams, and an outstanding group of volunteers to increase the reach and impact of the North Carolina Chapter. This position is based out of the North Carolina Chapter office in Charlotte, with the option for some remote work weekly.
The Development Assistant helps organize, coordinate, implement, and expand a variety of the Chapter's administrative and development activities. This position also supports chapter fundraising, volunteer management, stewardship, and provides support for marketing and social media as needed.
Responsibilities
- Supports and maintains the vision, mission, priorities, and guiding principles of JDRF. Understands the strategic direction and purpose of the organization and supports the Chapter's fundraising strategies and business needs.
- Provide general administrative support to Executive Director and other chapter staff as needed
- Assists in the functioning of the Chapter's daily operations, projects, and tasks
- Partner with Chapter Finance Specialist to process mail for the chapter and act as liaison for coding
- Oversees diverse administrative duties for the Chapter including providing administrative support for fundraising activities, tracking and acknowledging donations, and preparing information needed for meetings
- Serves as the Chapter's CRM super user, which includes managing duplicate records in the database, pulling special reports for community engagement and fundraising staff, entering annual Board lists, entering stewardship activities that impact large groups of supporter. Full adoption of Event Systems as well, including Luminate Online and Greater Giving
- Manages volunteer requests as they come in and assigns out to the appropriate staff member.
- Manages stewardship program for the Chapter
- Provides support for all Chapter events, including data entry for all events.
- Processes monthly corporate expense reports for Executive Director, Market Directors and Associate
Executive Director
- Help Chapter leadership in preparation of board meetings and board correspondence.
- Manage chapter Outlook calendar and Chapter email inbox and maintain supply inventory for office and chapter events.
- Provide excellent customer service for constituents who call the main Chapter phone line or email the main Chapter email
- Assist with stewardship activities of the chapter
- Ensures personal accountability for meeting deadlines and responding to volunteers
- Keeps steady communication between team members and committee leaders.
- Maintains a good understanding of JDRF's mission and research cure therapeutics.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3 or more years of work experience (administrative or relevant business/volunteer) preferred
- Event experience preferred; knowledge of fundraising basics preferred
- Must be a self-starter while also being collaborative and an amazing team player
- Proficiency Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint) and office equipment
- Familiarity with databases (Salesforce, Convio and Greater Giving) preferred.
- Knowledge of administrative procedures
- Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers and demonstrate an 'all hands-on deck' demeanor.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Active listening, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effectively multi-task, establish priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment. Highly efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure. Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills. Has a positive, can-do attitude; has a great sense of humor and can laugh at oneself
- College degree preferred
- Ability to travel occasionally within Chapter footprint, usually to support fundraising events. Occasional evening and weekend work required as needed.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
