About this Position
The water Plant Mechanic I performs work of a mechanical and manual nature involving preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance and/or operation of water and wastewater treatment and sewage pumping equipment. Mechanic must be willing to periodically perform standby and callback duties and be available for on-call status during off duty hours.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent
2 years of related experience and/or training
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Valid Class "B" Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License (or be able to obtain within one year)
Driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
Responsibilities
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance procedures on various equipment
Document maintenance efforts and the materials and supplies used
Complete housekeeping tasks, including painting equipment and appurtenances
Maintain inventory and order needed parts, tools, materials and supplies
Perform corrective maintenance procedures on equipment
Develop and track the equipment use schedule
Rotate mechanical equipment as needed
Work with in-house and external service providers, contractors, and vendors
Assist with and/or perform any specialized projects or assignments as delegated by the supervisor
Obtain temporary water and wastewater operator licenses within ten (10) days
Obtain both the water and wastewater operator Class "D" licenses within one (1) year
Necessary Skills
- Ability and willingness to periodically perform standby and callback duties
- Availability for on-call status during off duty hours
- Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
- Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug, physical, pulmonary function, and audio screenings
