Job Description

The Department of Movement Science at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) invites applicants for part-time adjunct instructors in the Fitness, Skill, and Activity (FIT) courses on a semester-by-semester basis.  FIT courses are physical education electives offered to all GVSU students.  Instructors specifically for functional strength and weight/strength training classes are needed. Salary/Benefits

Starting salary is $1000 per credit hour and depends on educational degree and number of years taught at GVSU. Adjunct Faculty are not eligible for health benefits (medical, dental, vision), short-term and long-term disability, retirement benefits, or tuition waivers. Required Qualifications and Education:

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching content and pedagogy in the content related to the selected FIT class(es) to be taught

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with respect and empathy

  • A bachelor’s degree with additional tested experience criteria (i.e. certification, work experience, and/or continuing education) 

Extensive job/career history within the selected course content will be considered (with multiple tested experience criteria)

Preferred Qualifications and Education:  

  • A master’s degree in related discipline or related subfield

Responsibilities:   

  • Teach assigned FIT course(s) at the undergraduate level.

  • Complete student evaluations and assessments required for an academic class.
