Park Avenue Center provides evidence-based, gender-specific drug and alcohol treatment in south Minneapolis, Minnesota. First established in 1979, Park Avenue Center is a community-based program that proudly serves Minnesota's less fortunate individuals in beautiful settings. Using evidence-based best practices, we have maintained a reputation for the highest quality of services at extremely low rates. Clients we serve typically struggle with multiple barriers including mental illness, homelessness, financial problems, legal issues, and an overall lack of emotional support. Utilizing a multidisciplinary approach, our staff includes Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors, Licensed Psychologists, Social Workers and a Registered Nurse. Our robust Mental Health Team allows us to help clients address their various needs. We take pride in the quality of our services and the magnificent environment we have created. Position Summary:

The Human Resource Assistant is responsible, under the direction of the Director of Human Resources for a broad range of duties to support the HR department, including managing job postings, reviewing candidates and assisting in scheduling interviews; onboarding and training paperwork; auditing of employee files; and assisting in various HR projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Process, verify, and maintain personnel-related documentation, including recruitment, training, performance evaluations, PTO requests, and professional qualifications.

  • Process and review employment applications to evaluate qualifications or eligibility of applicants and assist in scheduling interviews and informing candidates of their acceptance or rejection of employment.

  • Manage internal and external job postings.

  • Perform day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining employee files and processing paperwork.

  • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.

  • Researches and recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of human resource services.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge, understanding and practice of Human Resource concepts and employment law is preferred but not required.

  • Proficient using Microsoft Office and other software applications.

  • Demonstrated ability to protect confidential information.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities in conflict resolution.

  • Able to work with people from a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds

Additional information

Flexible hours available M-F between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm. This position will average 20-29 hours/week with a starting wage of $21.00/hour.
