JOB DESCRIPTION - PC Support Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Information and Educational Technology Services
POSITION TITLE: PC Support Specialist
SUPERVISOR: CIO, IET Services
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, inventory, upgrading, and installation of all University PC's
and related peripherals - ensuring appropriate software is available and functional.
- Configure LAN PC's with necessary protocols and security settings.
- Maintain and upgrade the University's PC Inventory database.
- Assist with Network related Services (DHCP, DNS, Wireless, etc.)
- Configure, troubleshoot, upgrade, and deploy computers to student labs, and faculty/staff offices
- Keep users informed about the status of their service calls and projects.
- Supervise student workers that are directly responsible for PC, peripheral, and LAN support.
- Take an active role in the customer satisfaction process.
- Additional duties as determined by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors' degree, BA in Computer Science, or related field and a minimum of two (2) years' experience in an information technology related field, preferably PC support; or a minimum of five years' experience in an information technology related field, preferably PC support and/or Helpdesk.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from university faculty/staff/administration, regulatory agencies, or members of the community.
- Proven ability to perform the following: PC support, peripheral support, LAN support.
- Experience with managing a network with over 400 PCs.
- Extensive knowledge of the following technologies: PC compatible hardware, Microsoft Windows operating systems, related software, O365 applications.
