Socal Seasonal Activities Specialist

Vision for the Role:

As the Activities Specialist at Hume Christian Camps, you will actively engage campers and guests to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the organization of group activities, games, sports, and special events during the fall season of camps/retreats. This person will assist in planning, organizing, and implementing these activities. The goal of the role is to create a positive, welcoming environment that reflects the love of Jesus, fostering both spiritual growth and memorable camp experiences.

The Role:

• Show respect to campers, guests, peers, staff, and self
• Serve as a positive role model, show enthusiasm, and display a positive attitude
• Be a witness for Jesus Christ in all words and actions, sharing Christ's love with the public, campers, and staff.
• Guide participants through the activity with good judgment
• Keep areas safe, clean, and in operational condition
• Always abide by the safety, equipment and personal guidelines
• Able to staff areas as needed, always be prepared to lead a course debriefing, including a personally meaningful Spiritual correlation to the activity and experience

Our Ideal Candidate:

• Evidence of strong Christian faith with a passion for sharing the gospel and meeting spiritual needs.
• Must agree with our statement of belief and be willing to abide by our code of conduct.
• Participate in staff training
• Ability to be on-site while camp programs are in session
• Positive formal and informal performance reviews
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills needed to guide participants through the activity
• Observes participant behavior, assess its appropriateness, and enforce safety in a fitting manner
• Physical Requirements: Bending, lifting, sitting, standing, stooping, stretching, walking, running, and possibly swimming. Hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and normal range of eyesight and hearing required to communicate with staff and manipulate camp equipment. Must operate with daily exposure to the cold, heat, rain, sun, and varying other weather conditions, as well as under irregular working hours in a camp environment. Able to lift 25-50 pounds.

Salary: $16.50/hour
