Role Overview

The Senior Reconciliation Specialist is responsible for performing various complex financial reconciliations in accordance with best practice to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. This role will also oversee the workflow of the Reconciliation Specialists and ensuring that our financial records are consistently accurate and reliable. This role will be reporting to the Manager of Business Process and Analytics team.

Role Responsibility

The Senior Reconciliation Specialist is responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Performing various reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial reports, records, and general ledgers in a timely manner and in accordance with company policies and internal controls.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed reconciliation worksheets and supporting documentation for audit purposes and management review.
  • Proactively identify and investigate all reconciling items, including timing differences, unmatched transactions, errors and omissions.
  • Assisting in the generation of cash related general ledger transactions and subsequent related adjustments.
  • Collaborate effectively with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other internal teams to research and resolve reconciliation discrepancies promptly.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to streamline and enhance reconciliation processes, controls, and efficiency.
  • Assist in documenting and updating reconciliation procedures and processes.
  • Ensuring all reconciliation tasks are completed accurately, adhering to established procedures and within deadlines.
  • Provide guidance, training and ongoing support to the Reconciliation Specialists, fostering their professional development and technical capabilities.
  • Performing other related tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency of the Transactions Services team.
  • Ensuring governance and risk management strategies comply with applicable legislation, commonwealth government policy, relevant standards, contract obligations and the strategic priorities of Datacom.
  • Takes reasonable care that their actions (or inactions) do not harm the Health and Safety of self or others. Reports all incidents, hazards, or unsafe work practices as per Datacom policy.

Requirements

Knowledge

  • Knowledge and experience in business performance and finance.
  • In-depth understanding of general accounting systems, processes and practices.
  • Foundational technical accounting knowledge.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles (e.g., debits, credits) and journal entry preparation.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle or a similar-sized ERP system
  • Strong strategic background, with an ability to grasp the big picture.
  • Strong business acumen.

Experience

  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in a similar role.

Skills

  • Strong numerical skills and advance proficiency in performing and overseeing complex financial reconciliations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP's, pivot tables, complex formulas) is essential.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate reconciliations workflow and consistently meet stringent deadlines.
  • Ability to manage complex issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.
  • Effective presentation skills with the ability to convey technical information across various levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships with people at any level in the organisation.
