Job Description

2nd Shift 3:30 - 11:00 pm

Description:

Set up and operate machines such as CNC Machining Centers, (CNC Lathes/CNC Mills), Twin Spindles,

Broaches, Turret Lathes, Drill Presses, Manual Milling machines & other like equipment to perform a full

range of operations on a wide variety of materials in order to meet Department efficiency and

productivity goals and objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Sets up and operates machines such as CNC Machining Centers, (CNC Lathes/CNC Mills), Twin
  • Spindles, Broaches, Turret Lathes, Drill Presses, Manual Milling machines & other like equipment to perform Turning, Chamfering, Drilling, Facing, Tapping, Threading, Forming, Milling, Broaching, etc. operations on materials such as brass, bronze, aluminum, steel, stainless steel, monel, cast iron, etc.
  • Uses knowledge of all aspects of metal cutting technology geometry, machine characteristics of stock materials and selection of feeds and speeds to perform turning, milling, chamfering, drilling, facing, tapping, threading, forming, broaching, etc., operations.
  • Works from blueprints, specifications, charts, handbooks and related data to assure part/product accuracy.
  • Uses precision measuring instruments to inspect for close tolerances and desired finish on completed parts.
  • Performs multiple machine tasks when required and may modify CNC programs to effectively produce parts.
  • Assure proper workflow (first-in- first-out) following appropriate machine sequence and specified necessary tooling.
  • Must retrieve and put back into specified location all tooling, fixturing and documentation at start and completion of job.
  • Submit all requests to order tooling/supplies for authorization from appropriate personnel.
  • Uses computers to check and coordinate incoming and outgoing work including all necessary paperwork by performing transactions relating to received materials, inventory control and outgoing orders.
  • Unloads and places in location all materials received such as products, raw stock, castings, supplies, cartons, etc. Loads and unloads materials on to and from pallets, trays, racks and shelves.
  • Operates manual or electric hand trucks/hoists to assist in loading tools or moving materials or parts.
  • Delivers or routes materials to next operation/ department using equipment such as hand truck or cart.
  • Maintains all coolant/oil levels and controls proper coolant mixtures in machines.
  • Controls accumulation of and coordinates disposal of waste oil, coolants and other waste materials with responsible personnel.
  • Submits all maintenance work orders (General Maintenance, Machine repair, & Safety Issues).
  • Maintains good housekeeping by sweeping & mopping floors and pumping of machines/moats around equipment.
  • Responsible for documentation, transactions and disposal of all non-conforming materials.
  • Advises appropriate personnel of manpower constraints, equipment and inventory problems.
  • Uses computers to collect, monitor and record data related to departmental performance i.e., On time delivery, efficiency, through put/cycle time.

Requirements:

Technical schooling equivalent to 1-year formal trades training in Metal Technology and CNC Machining; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
