Job Description
Position Summary:
- As the Blending Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the blending operations for our Wood and PVC lines to ensure the consistent production of high-quality composite materials. You will be responsible for managing a team to include a blending lead and technicians, optimizing blending processes, and maintaining equipment to meet production goals while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Your primary duties and responsibilities will be:
- Enforce safety and environmental protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for blending personnel.
- Lead a team of blending supervisors and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
- Assign tasks, set goals, and monitor performance to ensure productivity and quality targets are met.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement within the blending department.
- Oversee the blending process from raw material preparation to finished product, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for blending operations to optimize efficiency and minimize waste.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and coordinate with procurement to ensure adequate supply.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams (operations, maintenance, quality, engineering) to effectively troubleshoot blending equipment, including mixers, scales, and conveyors, to minimize downtime, improve reliability & drive continuous improvements.
- Support the blending maintenance team to help coordinate repairs and upgrades.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the consistency and integrity of blended materials, conducting regular inspections and tests.
- Investigate and address any deviations from quality standards, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to blending operations, materials handling, and workplace safety.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and waste minimization within the blending department.
- Initiate and lead projects to implement improvements, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Work with operations & engineering to enhance data acquisition & monitoring capabilities for blending operations, including implementing systems for real-time monitoring, data analysis and decision-making.
- Develop and monitor key performance (KPIs) and regularly report out on performance metrics highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.
- Stay up on industry trends, technological advancements and best practices in blending and process improvement to drive innovation.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a managerial role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in composite materials or extrusion.
- Demonstrated success in same or similar role, with a focus on managing personnel and processes. Siding, Composite, and/or plastics processing experience, preferred.
- Experience managing an operation that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Strong knowledge of blending processes, equipment, and materials used in composite manufacturing.
- Lean continuous improvement background & training with a focus on optimizing processes and driving efficiencies.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory requirements for manufacturing operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
- Analytical mindset with a focus on problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in computerized systems for process monitoring, data analysis, and inventory management.

- Must be self-directed, motivated and able to multi-task in fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment; Work schedule flexibility (on designated crews), with no advance notice, to accommodate needs of the business.
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several geographic markets. The annual salary for this position ranges from $108,000 in our lowest market up to $132,000 in our highest market, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable. The pay for roles at AZEK varies depending on a wide range of factors including but not limited to the specific work location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
