NEOGEN JOB ADVERT - ACCOUNTANT

Neogen is seeking a detail-oriented and solutions-driven Accountant to join our growing Finance team. This role supports core financial operations by maintaining accurate accounting systems and ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in financial reporting, reconciliations, and revenue tracking, with a drive for continuous process improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and support key accounting systems, including general ledger, journal entries, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and revenue reconciliation.

  • Review and interpret financial reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.

  • Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss, cash flow, and income statements.

  • Monitor and report on monthly revenues and expenditures for assigned departments or projects.

  • Maintain records of financial transactions including assets, liabilities, and equity.

  • Prepare and submit required federal, state, and local filings, including tax returns as needed.

  • Support revenue tracking and ensure proper application of revenue recognition policies, including deferred revenue.

  • Generate and interpret revenue and performance reports for internal and external use.

  • Collaborate with management and stakeholders to explain financial data, trends, and risks.

  • Maintain billing accuracy and ensure compliance with US GAAP, internal controls, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Assist in establishing or enhancing accounting processes and procedures, particularly for cost and revenue tracking.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

  • 3+ years of experience in accounting or financial reporting roles.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statements, and accounting systems.

  • Experience in a manufacturing or high-volume environment preferred.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems; experience with SAP or Oracle is a plus.
