Job Description
Lead Phlebotomist- Full-time
3:00pm-11:30pm
Every other weekend
Some holidays
Summary- The Phlebotomy Lead performs functional duties in the Laboratory Path of Work flow. S/he is responsible for oversight of day-to-day operational functions for the every shift including ensuring that standard operating procedures are followed and regulatory requirements are met. The Phlebotomy Lead is responsible for trouble-shooting. In close collaboration with department leaders, s/he develops work schedule for phlebotomists, adjusting staffing per operational requirements. Assigns special work duties as required.
Education- High school diploma or GED required. Completion of accredited phlebotomy course OR military course OR completion of certified Medical Assistant program OR 1 year phlebotomy experience required.
Experience- Two years of experience in phlebotomy required.
Licensure/Certification- Current BLS (CPR) in compliance with policy required. Current certification from approved phlebotomy organization preferred. For use of Personal Vehicles: Access to a vehicle and current driver's license from any state is required. Acknowledgement with signature to "Attestation A" of Meritus Vehicle Management Use and Control policy, which includes guidelines for personal insurance coverage requirements.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities- Possess the ability to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's/department's policies and procedures. Understanding of medical terminology desirable.
