Job Description

Position Summary: Provides clinical nursing support to staff and physicians in the care of patients with wound, ostomy and continence needs. Critically analyzes the effectiveness of wound care regimens, patient care systems, and interdisciplinary care plans to maximize the effectiveness of care. Works collaboratively with primary nursing staff to facilitate appropriate care for patients; serves as an expert in the assessment and management of complex wounds and provides support on a regular and consultative basis.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years clinical nursing experience required; preceptor, team leader, charge, or supervisory experience preferred; a minimum of 2 years experience in ostomy/wound management preferred.

Education: Successful completion of an accredited wound/ostomy education program; Graduate of accredited diploma, associate degree or baccalaureate degree nursing program.

Required License / Credentials: NJ State Nursing License; BLS -C certification, Certification in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing (WOCN).

Other Required Skills: Must be flexible and adaptable to a wide variety of clinical situations and settings; must have excellent organizational and time management skills; excellent critical thinking and problem resolution skills; excellent interpersonal and team management skills.

Contact With Others: Regular internal and/or external contacts requiring tact and discretion in obtaining and exchanging information.

Supervision Given: Provides consultative supervision to physicians, nurses, and other direct providers in the management of wounds, ostomies, continence problems, and in conditions of high risk for skin impairment.

Supervision Received: None.

Bi-Weekly Hours: 40

Work Schedule: Day shift

The minimum starting rate for this position is $40.67
