Job Description

Position Purpose

Upholds the Credit Union’s mission of “We do the right thing one member, one employee, and one experience at a time to strengthen the communities we serve” by learning about design and strategies to promote the overall image and brand of the credit union and its products and services.  Primary responsibilities will include designing ads for traditional and digital channels, marketing collateral and signage; providing ideas for campaigns and content; coordinating campaign and other assets; assisting with events and charitable activities; and looking for opportunities that promote the Credit Union philosophy. 

 

Internship Responsibilities 

As a Graphic Designer Intern, you will play a vital role in supporting our creative team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and designing print and digital materials while adhering to brand guidelines.
  • Developing engaging designs from a variety of tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Collaborating with the creative team and the AVP of Brand and other cross-functional teams to brainstorm and develop design concepts.
  • Retouching and manipulating images to elevate overall visual output.
  • Preparing digital art files for printing and making adjustments to files based on feedback or revisions.
  • Contributing creative ideas to team brainstorming sessions and project meetings.
  • Assisting with marketing needs, including the creation of various marketing collateral, web and social assets and print materials. 
  • Learning and adapting to new software. 
  • Creating energizing signage, logos, design themes, and other visuals to support our brand efforts internally and externally.
  • Regularly sharing feedback and ideas with the team while meeting deadlines and maintaining flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Performing other design-related duties and tasks as assigned.
  • In addition to the primary duties, may assist the department in various other duties including, but not limited to, special event participation and planning, such as grand openings, annual meetings on site sponsored events.

Necessary Experience and Qualifications

  • Be a student in a field of Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Multimedia Design, or related field required with a strong desire to continue improving and learning.   
  • Strong conceptual thinking and ability to convey ideas through visual storytelling.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a willingness to push the boundaries of design and storytelling while maintaining the brand’s integrity, voice, and identity.
  • Have basic understanding of the Adobe Creative Suites, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro., and Microsoft Office programs. Photography or Video editing skills are a plus. 
  • Excellent time management skills. Demonstrated ability to multitask, remain organized and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Pays close attention to detail and maintains an extremely high degree of accuracy as it relates to promotional material.
  • Great team player with strong work ethic and communicate positively.
  • Able to learn industry regulations and compliance in relation to promotional materials.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Availability after hours and weekends is sometimes needed to assist the marketing team in brand execution.
  • Limited travel required to various branches, meetings, seminars, and conferences.
  • Office environment with moderate level of noise.
  • Prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Frequent mental and visual concentration with use of computer and other office equipment.
  • Possess valid Driver’s License for occasional travel for events, meetings, etc.
  • Minimal lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Outdoor environments (travel) where temperature variations could be somewhat uncomfortable.
