Job Description

SUMMARY

Directs and coordinates collection activities. Responsible for obtaining updates, remaining current on legal issues, and properly documenting collection of delinquent accounts. Oversees charge-off accounts, repossessions, lawsuits, bankruptcies, and most litigation on assigned accounts. Provides regular reporting internally regarding collections, charge-off, and recovery activities. Manages collections account portfolio to include loan renewal, restructuring process, and risk rating recommendations. Oversees management of OREO properties to include recommendations on recovery plan, sale of asset, renovations and/or liquidation of assets.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Five or more years of related job experience
  • Understanding of regulatory guidelines regarding collections practices and lending procedures (NMLS# compliant)
  • Ability to handle stressful situations involving customer communications/contact/account status
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to speak/communicate effectively during presentations in committee meetings

SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Review past due reports/system analysis to detect potential risk of loss from deteriorating accounts to include every account within the organization
  • Contact past due customers through phone, letter, text, email, and or site visit to discuss past due status. Determine repayment status of account and mediation of arrearage payments. Formulate recovery plan based on information obtained from collection efforts
  • Communicate report updates to the CCO on any/all activities related to the collection function on at least a weekly basis utilizing reports and meetings. Update any prudent information during ongoing notable collection efforts and or required authorizations
  • Coordinate/communicate with loan officers concerning past due status of accounts in their respective portfolio to include updates and timeframe of mediation
  • Make recommendations/take action on accounts transferred to the collections portfolio
  • Make recommendations to CCO on accounts that may require legal action or modification
  • Maintain records on collection activity, legal documentation, bankruptcy files, and any/all documents related to accounts within the collections portfolio
  • Decision all bankruptcy notices received to include requesting legal action to take place from bank counsel. Maintain bankruptcy accounts, records and plan payments. Process trustee payments received on bankruptcy customers. Track payments as per agreed upon in the customers approved bankruptcy plan
  • Facilitate plan of liquidation of OREO/OTHER ASSETS to CCO. Manage assets to include property management, eviction process, leasing agreements, renovation of property, listing and marketing of bank owned assets
  • Ability to locate/skip trace customers unresponsive to collection efforts using analytic programs, reports and physical efforts.
  • Process/approve expenses related to the collections department
  • Insure all collection activity is performed per regulatory agency guidelines

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

Employee is required to maintain a valid driver's license and provide own reliable transportation. This position requires travel within the banks footprint and may require additional travel for training purposes.
