Job Description

The Social Media Manager will work daily to represent the Standing for Freedom Center through hosting a genuine, quality, and informative presence online using departmental social media accounts. The Social Media Manager will create content that highlights events, beliefs, and guests of the Standing for Freedom Center. The Social Media Manager will be tasked with creating awareness of the department for the purpose of growing and developing the Standing for Freedom Center social media audiences to impact culture with Biblical Truth. The social media manager will also be tasked with overseeing the voter registration initiative at Liberty University to encourage students to embrace their civic responsibility by registering to vote and voting in every election.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Connect social media followers to Standing for Freedom Center.

2. Provide resources and stories on topics prevalent to the goals and values of the Standing for Freedom Center.

3. Use platform to inform followers of Biblical perspectives on cultural and societal issues.

4. Share information in a trustworthy, credible, and professional manner.

5. Raise awareness of the Standing for Freedom Center on various social media platforms.

6. Work to boost audience response by engaging with followers, tracking hashtags, responding to comments, and creating interactive content.

7. Report to Standing for Freedom Center directors and Executive Vice President over the Standing for Freedom Center.

8. Implement voter registration initiative on Liberty University campus to encourage students to register to vote.

9. Operations Manager for the Freedom Center satellite office at Montview Student Union.

10. Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.

11. Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

Will oversee student workers assisting with social media posting and scheduling.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

1. Bachelor’s Degree

2. Familiarity with using various social media platforms: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, GETTR, email, etc.

3. Self-starter, goal-orientated professional who adheres to guidelines and schedule for social media presence.

4. Personable and able to foster working relationships with partners and colleagues.

5. Strong grasp of cultural and political issues that are at the forefront of public consciences and media focus.

6. Demonstration of strong agreement with the mission, policy, and advocacy of the Standing for Freedom Center.

7. Ability to articulate and defend the unique Christian educational mission and vision of Liberty University and its subsidiaries to a wide variety of individuals and groups.

8. Passion for sharing content that is Biblically focused through highlighting cultural issues and then relating those to a Christians, Biblical response.

Communication and Comprehension

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.

  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.

  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business, government and community customers and associates.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Computer and scheduling skills.

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Required to travel to local and campus locations.

  • May be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.

  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus.

  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.

  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting.  It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate.  Working environment also includes facilitation of events outdoors occasionally.    

Driving Requirements

Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position.  Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
