Job Description
Do you want to make a difference? Can you spare a couple of hours a week? Be a volunteer (unpaid) for Hospice patients and families
AdvisaCare is a local community Hospice looking for volunteers that have Hospice Therapy Trained Dogs.
Volunteer (Handler)Requirements: must be at least 18 years old, should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
must have been trained and certified by the same organization as their dog
and can commit to regular visits and documentation of those visits
Dog Requirements:
Age: require all dogs to be at least one year old.
Dogs must be calm, gentle, and comfortable interacting with strangers in various settings.:
Dogs need to be up-to-date on vaccinations and have a clean bill of health from a veterinarian.
Basic obedience training is essential, and certified by a recognized therapy dog organization, such as Therapy Dogs International.

Hospice Volunteers are needed! Volunteers play a vital role within the hospice team ranging from engagement of the patients and families, to clerical and office support.
Hospice volunteers have a natural desire for caring, providing support to patients and their families along their difficult journeys. Volunteers have described their work as satisfying and emotionally enriching. Families describe them as a gift in their lives at the time of need.
Volunteering can come in all forms, such as one on one visits with patients and their families, to helping in the office to provide support to the nursing and care staff.
