PIM - Precision Industrial Manufacturing is hiring for an experienced Shop Superintendent

Job description

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Good communication and organization skills
  • Experience in the steel fabrication and construction industry
  • Knowledge of GMAW & FCAW welding processes
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Deep understanding of construction processes, cost estimation, and budget management
  • Ability to work as part of a goal-oriented team
  • Must be a self-starter, self-motivated, and customer-focused

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shop Management: Oversee the organization, maintenance, and operation of the shop facility, including equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Material Handling: Coordinate the receipt, storage, and distribution of construction materials and equipment.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper maintenance and repair of shop equipment and tools.
  • Safety: Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures within the shop.
  • Coordination: Work with field superintendents, project managers, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and support for construction projects.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of materials and equipment inventory.
  • Staff Supervision: Supervise shop personnel, including mechanics, laborers, and other shop staff.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of shop activities, including inventory, maintenance, and safety inspections.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve issues that arise in the shop to ensure smooth operations.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including field personnel, vendors, and subcontractors.

Relationship with Project Manager:

While a superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day operations in the shop, the project manager often oversees the overall projects. The relationship between the project manager and superintendent is typically a collaborative one, with respect for each other's expertise and distinct roles.

Job Type: Full-time

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week

Schedule:

  • 8-10 hours
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends and overtime as needed, determined by the scope of work for each project.
