Summary - basic function of the role As a Lab Test Technician, you will be responsible for the performance testing and validation of new and existing products developed within the Columbus, WI location. Must be a self-starter, team oriented, process focused individual with the ability to work in a continuous process improvement environment. A strong customer focus is required with the ability to meet the customer's needs. Shift: Monday- Friday; 8 - 4:30 pm or 8:30 - 5:00 pm; flexible Job Duties and Responsibilities Work closely with the Engineering Teams to continuously improve current product offerings Primary responsibility will be testing and validation of new and existing products Act as a liaison between the technical and commercial teams Creation and documentation of test criteria and inspection reports Build new product prototypes from engineering documentation Display strong skills in teamwork, the ability to effectively work/communicate with all team members Take ownership/responsibility of projects or products Generate and implement improvement ideas in efforts of driving continuous improvement Aid Engineers in determining performance and robustness of new product designs Use of metrology and inspection equipment Transfer of product specifications to training and technical teams Skills and Competencies Strong mechanical aptitude with a minimum of 2 years working in a manufacturing, industrial, diesel, or automotive environment required Experience with measuring material, angle finding, 80/20 assembly, powered hand tools Ability to read drawings and determine best MFG sequence of components. Ability to revise-rework hydraulic and electrical systems initiated thru R&D process Excellent work ethic with the ability to work in an unsupervised team environment Proficient in Microsoft suit- Excel, Word, PowerPoint Familiarity with High pressure (10K psi) hydraulic systems is a plus Familiarity with data logging instruments is a plus Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs a plus Present performance test data to the design engineers, offer constructive comments pertaining to test results Strong communication and organizational skills with a desire to meet targeted completion dates Creative and open minded Quality and safety minded Education and Experience Education Requirements: High School Diploma with a two-year technical degree preferred Experience Requirements: 2 years working in a manufacturing, industrial, diesel, or automotive environment Physical Demands Employee may have to lift documents/work materials up to 30 pounds in weight. Employee may have to lift tools up to 100 pounds in weight. Employee will have to be able to walk/climb to a variety of primary work locations, including traveling by air/auto to remote sites. This can include occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like. Employee may move themselves in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces. Employee will need to move about to accomplish tasks or move from one worksite to another. Employee will need to operate machinery and/or power tools, motor vehicles, and heavy equipment. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members in person, telephonically, and electronically at all levels within a diverse workforce and with supported organizations. Employee will need to assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned. Employee can work in front of a personal computer and telephone for long periods of time. Will have repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Work Environment Primary work environment is a manufacturing setting but performing data analysis in a climate-controlled office environment will also be required. Following appropriate safety protocols at the location would be required. Employee will be exposed to levels of noise which require hearing protection.
