Director of AI & Business Intelligence

Position Overview:

Bettis Companies is seeking a hands-on, and technically skilled Director of AI & Business Intelligence to lead enterprise-wide efforts in leveraging artificial intelligence, data analytics, and custom software tools to drive innovation and performance across the organization. This is a leadership role that combines strategic direction with technical execution - responsible for creating internal dashboards, building AI-enabled tools, developing internal software, and collaborating with business unit leaders to shape Bettis Companies' digital and data future.

Essential Duties:

• Serving as a strategic leader and internal AI champion
• Collaborating with executives and department heads across all business units
• Promoting data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency
• Designing, testing, and deploying custom AI assistants and chatbots
• Managing RAG file systems and AI platform integration
• Developing internal AI-enabled software and tools for specific operational use cases
• Writing clean, modular code in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript
• Using frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, and Streamlit to build internal applications
• Creating real-time dashboards and reports using Power BI or Tableau
• Defining and refining KPI frameworks with stakeholders
• Leading employee training on AI tools and reporting systems
• Staying current on AI/ML technologies and presenting new business use cases

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's in a technical field
• Advanced programming skills in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Industry experience in construction/logistics/manufacturing preferred

Required Skills:

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• 5+ years in AI/ML, software dev, or BI leadership roles
• Strong experience in chatbot and RAG systems
• Experience with AI/ML platforms and BI tools
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and APIs
• Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well organized.
• Must pass criminal background check, credit check, and drug screening.
• Must read and speak English.
• S. Citizenship, permanent residency, or work visa is required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit for extended periods of time, up to eight hours per day, though possibly more.
• Sufficient manual dexterity to successfully use a computer.
• Sometimes required to stand and/or walk, and make occasional trips from the office area to other site buildings or down stairs to lower training meeting rooms.
