Description:
The Pharmacist II will prepare and dispense parenteral, enteral, and oral medications, monitor patient drug therapies, and provide drug information. The Pharmacist II will also direct support personnel.
What a Pharmacist II will do:
- Reviews, prepares and dispenses medication orders per physician order or prescription according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Ensures safe, appropriate, cost effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures and protocols.
- Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department.
- Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. Suggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to physicians, as needed.
- Provides drug information and counseling to patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in the training, education, precepting, and evaluation of pharmacy students and/or residents as assigned.
- Provides work direction to pharmacy support personnel, verifies the daily activities of pharmacy technicians.
What a Pharmacist II will need:
- One year of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy preferre
- Current registered pharmacist license and controlled substance license issued by the Michigan State Board of Pharmacy.
- Five year bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Advanced training in at least one specialty clinical area, preferred.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification may be required (at discretion of manager).
