Our Grandview, Missouri facility is a key contributor to our North American operations - and we're looking for a visionary Plant Manager to lead its continued success.
Position Summary:
The Plant Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership for our $75M Grandview site, with direct accountability for safety, quality, productivity, people development, capital planning, and overall customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a transformational leader with deep experience in lean manufacturing and a passion for building high-performing teams and improving plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership (25%)
Lead daily manufacturing activities across molding, assembly, quality, maintenance, and safety departments
Ensure all production targets related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost are consistently met or exceeded
Maintain strict adherence to all internal safety protocols and OSHA compliance
Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement (25%)
Champion lean manufacturing and Six Sigma practices to drive waste reduction, operational efficiency, and increased throughput
Collaborate with engineering and materials teams to introduce new products and technologies into production
Lead capacity planning, capital investments, and infrastructure improvements aligned with long-term business goals
People Development (35%)
Select, train, and mentor a team of direct and indirect reports, fostering a culture of engagement, collaboration, and performance
Ensure proper staffing, development, and succession planning across all departments
Drive accountability and recognition throughout all levels of the operation
Budgeting & Financial Management (10%)
Own a controllable plant budget of $44M (fixed + variable)
Monitor labor, material, and overhead costs, identifying opportunities to improve plant financial performance
Community Engagement & Corporate Citizenship (5%)
Represent Silgan Dispensing as a visible and active community partner in Grandview and surrounding areas
Promote team involvement in community relations, events, and local initiatives
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related technical or scientific field required
Experience:
Minimum 10-15 years of progressive experience in plant or operations leadership roles
Proven success managing large manufacturing facilities (preferably plastic injection molding or high-volume consumer goods)
Strong strategic planning, team development, and business acumen
Technical Competencies:
Deep understanding of production processes and operational technologies
Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Split between general office and manufacturing environments
Regular exposure to machinery, noise, and industrial equipment
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, stooping, or kneeling
Travel required up to 10-12% annually
