Right now, we are looking for a Regional Loan Assistant in our Middlebury Main Office in Middlebury, IN.

Here is some information about this position:

SUMMARY: The Loan Assistant works with the Bank's Loan Officers and performs a variety of administrative duties. The Loan Assistant greets and directs customers on the phone and in person. They are responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of loan documentation as well as follow up with various due diligence tracking.

Primary Functions of this position:

  • Greet customers and provide customer service by answering questions regarding existing loans, the loan process in general and directing them to the loan officer to best meet their needs.
  • Answer loan department phones promptly and courteously. Listen to customer needs and answer questions or transfer to the call to the appropriate person or department for assistance.
  • Track and follow up on the pipeline of loans assigned to the regional office in various stages of documentation, and assist the loan officer with clearing due diligence conditions to obtain approval and/or documentation
  • Obtain and order various file due diligence items as directed by the loan officer including credit report, UCC searches, Business searches, appraisals, flood determinations, and title commitments
  • Assist the loan officer by coordinating documentation requests through the loan support services department and processing post-closing paperwork making sure that signed documents are returned to commercial loan support services.
  • Regularly monitor the submission of financial statements by customers to the loan officers to ensure that each statement gets appropriately scanned and recorded.
  • Monitor the exception report to obtain missing file documentation from the customer or a third party as authorized by the customer.
  • Contact customers to schedule appointments/closings with loan officers or to request necessary documents to facilitate the new loan or loan renewal process. Contact Insurance companies to verify collateral coverage and bank loss payee status.
  • Perform a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth and efficient daily operation of the department.

And here are some responsibilities that are also expected:

  • Regularly attend and participate in Commercial Loan Operations meetings and other departmental meetings as directed by the regional manager.
  • Complete all required training.
  • Work as an intermediary between the loan officers and the credit administration and commercial loan services departments in order to obtain approval and documentation of loan requests.
  • Generate copies of reports and presentations for weekly Officer Loan Committee meetings for distributions to loan officers and management.
  • May be a Notary Public if requested.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

To be considered for this position, you need the following:

  • A MINIMUM of ONE YEAR'S experience working in a Financial Institution Loan Department
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain composure in times of pressure, working under a deadline, and setting priorities for completion of tasks
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  • Superb internal and external customer service skills
  • Ability to thrive in a team-environment workplace
  • Self-starter with initiative and ability to work independently

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting for long periods of time.

Viewing a computer screen for long periods of time.
