Oncology Pharmacy Tech- Cancer Pavilion FT Sign on Bonus available
Under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist and in accordance with organizational policies, departmental procedures, and Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) guidelines, the Pharmacy Technician III supports pharmacists by preparing prescriptions and IV admixtures. This role builds upon the skills and competencies of Pharmacy Technician I and II as part of a structured professional career path.
Pharmacy Technicians at this level assist in interpreting, transcribing, and preparing medications for pharmacist review and approval. Additional responsibilities include technical, clerical, and supply-related tasks that may vary based on the work setting (e.g., inpatient, outpatient retail, infusion pharmacy) or shift assignment.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, Day Shift
No weekends or holidays
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
Permanent Pharmacy Technician License in good standing with the State of Michigan
Relevant pharmacy experience in a hospital, retail, or similar setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Proficiency in mathematics and basic algebra
Ability to analyze data and collaborate with pharmacists to determine appropriate actions
Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and performing tasks involving pushing, pulling, and moving equipment or materials
Required Skills:
Strong communication skills for interactions with pharmacists, hospital personnel, and external customers
Ability to maintain professional working relationships with coworkers
High attention to detail, initiative, and prioritization of tasks
Ability to manage routine and urgent responsibilities effectively and provide timely follow-up
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates and maintains all required competencies for Pharmacy Technician III
Completes all duties expected of Pharmacy Technician I and II, plus additional specialized responsibilities based on area of assignment
Outpatient Retail Pharmacy (includes one or more of the following):
Support for bedside medication delivery (Meds to Beds), including assisting with patient home medication histories, reconciliation, coordination of medication delivery, and interdisciplinary communication
Specialty pharmacy support, including prescription ordering, inventory management, and shipping coordination
Hospital or Infusion Pharmacy (includes one or more of the following):
Chemotherapy compounding in compliance with USP and USP standards
Advanced home medication history collection in the Emergency Department for admission reconciliation
Advanced pharmacy procurement and inventory management
Automated dispensing cabinet configuration, optimization, and maintenance
Controlled substance diversion monitoring
Departmental scheduling for large teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Active participation in professional pharmacy organizations
Experience in mentoring, project leadership, or departmental initiatives
