Responsibilities:
The Van Conversion Technician also known as the Production Technician is responsible for modifying and customizing vans to meet customer requirements. These technicians focus on providing the highest level of work to ensure proper functionality of finished product.
- Install equipment according to work orders. This includes installing items such as shelving, racks, partitions, flooring, lighting, HVAC, electrical etc.
- Must be able to read and interpret plans.
- Assist service writers in identifying necessary parts to complete job. Quickly informing them of improper parts ordered or missing parts.
- May require cutting, welding, drilling and fastening materials.
- Some conversions may require modifications to the van’s mechanical systems. Technician may need to work with automotive components to ensure proper functionality.
- Perform quality check on finished conversion to ensure work meets industry standards and fulfills all customer requests.
- Ensure detailed documentation on all work performed and parts used.
- Advise service writer of any delays in completing projects.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in automotive industry as a technician is highly desirable.
- Must understand basic mechanical functions.
- Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 50lbs.
- Carpentry knowledge advantageous.
- Must be organized, work efficiently under pressure, prioritize tasks and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
