Summary:

The MRI Tech II is responsible for conducting research brain MRI scans, primarily on pediatric patients without sedation, while addressing caregiver needs and ensuring accurate data management across studies. This role requires proficiency in following study protocols, troubleshooting imaging sequences, and maintaining MRI safety compliance. The MRI Tech II also manages DICOM images and RAW data (k-space), collaborates on scheduling, and assists with equipment troubleshooting and supply needs. Additionally, they ensure adherence to regulatory standards, support data storage and BOLD imaging, and may serve as a preceptor in the absence of senior staff. Strong attention to detail, adaptability, and experience navigating varying research standards are essential.

Required Education:

Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college program or technical school or nursing diploma

Recommended Education:

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university

Required Work Experience:

Direct - 2 years of experience

Direct - Pediatric

Required Certifications:

1 of the following license or registry is required - -

MRI Specialist - American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT), MRI Technician Certification - American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)

Description

1. Knowledge of skills to performs diagnostic scans as directed by Radiologists.

2. Developed knowledge to use correct scan protocols in an effort to optimize image quality while decreasing scan length and repeat procedures, demonstrates knowledge of patient positioning and coil selection.

3. Developed knowledge to properly screen patients, families, and staff with attention to pregnancy and MRI contraindications.

4. Developed knowledge about and adheres to all safety recommendations regarding MRI.

5. Ensures that work area is properly maintained.

6. Has developed the ability to troubleshoot and report malfunctioning equipment.

7. Complies with all TJC, state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.

8. Performs other duties as assigned.
