This position will be based in our New York or Warren office with a hybrid schedule that has the option of working two days remotely each week.
For NY and NJ Only: The base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $300,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
Role Purpose:
Everest Insurance has a Global Centralised Ceded Reinsurance department that manages the Ceded Strategy and Ceded Placement process for the Group. The Placement team is split into three pillars - First Party, Third Party and Specialty, to allow for specialisation between the classes of business protected and consistency in how we purchase reinsurance.
We are looking to recruit a Vice President, Third Party Reinsurance Buyer to own the Casualty and Financial Lines placements of the Group, managing the process from the early strategy conversations, through to handing off the executed deal to our operations and finance departments.
Key Accountabilities:
Reporting into the Chief Ceded Reinsurance Officer you will:
Lead and oversee the planning and execution of the company's reinsurance purchases for Casualty and Financial Lines (Third Party).
Collaborate with insurance leaders and the Group Hedging Committee to suggest reinsurance plans for the company's Third Party Insurance.
Handle daily interactions with reinsurer brokers for Third Party placements, covering all stages from pre-placement to post-placement and feedback sessions.
Develop and maintain key reinsurer relationships for Third Party placements, working alongside the Group's broader reinsurer connections.
Assist the financial planning and analytics department to derive the Ceded Plan during the annual planning process for the Third Party contracts
Support the Ceded Operations team in setting up Third Party contracts to ensure timely payment of premiums and collection of claims
Collaborate with the Ceded Contracts team and Underwriting leadership to ensure Everest's required wording is included in all contracts, aiming for consistent treaty wording across Third Party placements.
Work with the Ceded Reinsurance actuarial team to ensure all Third Party reinsurance contracts are modelled and aligned with the Group's risk appetite.
Deliver best-in-class reinsurance outcomes for our insurance business
Professional Experience:
10 years of experience within a Ceded Reinsurance department.
Proven knowledge and experience in the casualty and financial lines classes of business.
Experience in both International and North America reinsurance markets.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build consensus and conduct effective negotiations as well as a high degree of proficiency in communication - both oral and written.
