POSITION SUMMARY:
The Health Care Assistant (HCA) plays a crucial role in delivering culturally responsive patient care. This position involves medical assisting, lab work, and administrative support, helping ensure every patient receives quality, respectful care in a welcoming environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Patient Care and Support
- Provide empathetic, culturally competent patient support while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Collaborate with diverse healthcare professionals to optimize patient experience.
- Record vital signs and document medical history with sensitivity to health disparities.
Laboratory and Specimen Management
- Perform venipuncture and lab testing with a commitment to patient safety and dignity.
- Ensure lab records and samples are handled with care and precision.
Administrative and Advocacy Duties
- Schedule appointments and provide language-accessible triage services.
- Support patient navigation, ensuring equitable access to care.
- Engage in community-centered outreach and health education efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- ✅ High School Diploma/GED required; Medical Assistant Certificate preferred.
- ✅ Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply (Mandarin, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Vietnamese, or Portuguese).
- ✅ Passionate about health equity, reproductive justice, and inclusive care.
- ✅ Comfortable working with diverse patient populations in fast-paced environments
- ✅ Strong organizational skills and commitment to racial and gender equity.
This position is part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
