We're currently recruiting for a Facilities Supervisor. The primary responsibilities for the job are to oversee and review the skilled trades work of the Facilities Maintenance team members. The position assists in the preparation and development of departmental goals, objectives, budgets and strategies, and responds to customer service requests and inquiries. This is a working position that may include a full range of facilities and building maintenance duties.
This is a full-time, regular, non-exempt union position. This position is covered under the provisions of an agreement between the City and the AFSCME union. The schedule for this position is M-F, 8am to 5pm.

Job Details
Essential Functions:
- Perform a full range of facilities maintenance management duties and responsibilities
- Prioritize and assign workorders using the city's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Evaluate Staff performance and monitor staff work quality. Provide corrective coaching for maintenance staff. Recommend disciplinary action as needed
- Conduct facilities maintenance staff evaluations. Promote and provide excellent customer service to City departments, employees, and building tenants. Set service level expectations and respond to customer inquiries in a courteous and professional manner.
- Assist in the development of departmental goals and objectives.
- Participate in the preparation and management of the departmental maintenance budget. Track maintenance costs
- Manage Facilities work areas for Labor and Industries (L & I) compliance and other safe work practices
- This is also a working position that requires journey level work in all areas of facilities maintenance work.
- Position requires the use of a PC or laptop to input data into the City financial reporting and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Participate in safety meetings, training requirements as needed and comply with City safety requirements including but not limited to, First Aid/CPR, AED, Hazardous materials, Bloodborne pathogens, confined space, fall protection, scissor and articulating lift certification, and defensive driving.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience and Education
- Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities maintenance or construction, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
- Equivalent to a HS Diploma/GED or an Associate's degree or technical certification in a related field (e.g., building systems, construction management, or maintenance technology) is preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Computer Skills
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and database systems
- Ability to effectively use CMMS platforms and mobile applications for work order management
Required Licenses and/or Certifications
- Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license.
- Ability to obtain:
- CPR / First Aid AED card within three (3) months of hire
- Confined Space certification within six (6) months of hire.
- Forklift certification within six (6) months of hire
- Defensive Driving certification within six (6) months of hire
- CJIS certificate within three (3) months of hire
- Scissor and / or articulating lift certification within one (1) year of hire
Knowledge
- Comprehensive knowledge of facilities operations, maintenance standards, and building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural components
- Principles and practices of effective team leadership, supervision, and staff development
- Applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations including OSHA, ADA, EPA, and Labor and Industries (L&I) safety practices
- Familiarity with hazardous materials regulations and procedures for handling asbestos, lead, and radon
- Proficient in modern office practices and use of maintenance management systems (e.g., CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Journey level facilities maintenance practice and procedures
- Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
- Pertinent federal, state and local laws that pertain to: safety, security, hazardous materials including but not limited to asbestos, lead and radon
- Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment
- Use of personal computers and basic software

- Works in safe and responsible manner; not putting self or others at risk. Complies with applicable policies and procedures including but not limited to using personal protective equipment, observing warning signs, learning about potential hazards, and reporting all unsafe conditions.
- Responsible for ensuring a safe workplace in compliance with applicable policies, procedures and regulations. Ensures supervised employee review of the City Core Accident Prevention Plan, relevant safety policies and procedures, and training on illness and injury response and specific job-related safety concerns. Reports and appropriately escalates all safety issues and all injuries.
This position is subject to successful completion of a pre-employment reference check, a basic criminal background check, a driving abstract, a medical evaluation, drug testing and may include a fingerprinting background check.
