Job Summary

The Managing Director of Commercial Real Estate is responsible for leading the strategic planning, acquisition, leasing, and management of the organization’s commercial real estate portfolio. It includes oversight of property transactions, land management, and mineral rights holdings. This role requires deep expertise in market analysis, deal structuring, and stakeholder collaboration to support business growth, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

Job Description

What You'll Do:

  • Create and sustain a customer focused culture within the real estate organization that simplifies direct engagement with the business units and promotes an attentive partner focus on their business needs.
  • Develop and execute a property acquisition plan that supports the long-range growth plans of the Operating Companies, Transmission, and Distribution.
  • Manage all real estate transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing.
  • Ensure real estate decisions comply with all regulatory requirements.  
  • Support rate case testimony development and serve as a witness.
  • Oversee relationships with external brokers, public agencies, and landowners.
  • Provide executive-level financial analysis and reporting on the performance of real estate investments.
  • Ensure compliance with all municipal, county, state, and federal regulatory agencies for environmental and code requirements.
  • Lead large-scale contract development and negotiation pertaining to Real Estate in collaboration with procurement and legal teams.
  • Collaborate with legal, finance and OPCO teams on real estate related financial structures, compliance, and governance.
  • Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of real estate professionals by setting clear objectives, priorities, and performance expectations to foster a culture of innovation for the team.
  • Establish real estate policies, approval frameworks and strategic benchmarks.
  • Establish and maintain clear alignment with the legal team

What We're Looking For:

Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in business with a real estate or related focus.

Experience: 

  • Ten years of progressive experience in corporate real estate and infrastructure development. 

Other Must Haves:

  • Strong track record of managing large portfolios and leading high stakes transactions.
  • Excellent skills in deal structuring, risk assessment and strategic negotiation.
  • Deep understanding of real estate law, utility asset strategy and regulatory framework.
  • Strong executive presence, exceptional communication, and presentation skills to build support for real estate initiatives that impact multiple business units.
  • Strong analytical, teamwork and collaboration skills. 
  • Must have ability to prioritize and coordinate activities to successfully perform in this position. 
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%.

Compensation Range:

$183,033.00-237,941.50 USD
