Job Description

GenH - Adaptive Hydro

Electrical Systems Engineer – Renewable Energy & Grid Integration

Location: Boston, MA
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Industry: Renewable Energy | Electrical Engineering | Power Systems

About GenH

GenH is a clean energy technology company revolutionizing hydropower with Adaptive Hydro—a first-in-class, rapidly deployable, and modular hydropower system. Our technology electrifies non-powered dams and canal heads without construction or storage, generating clean, baseload power at a speed and cost competitive with fossil fuels—without subsidies.

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Electrical Systems Engineer to support the design, specification, and testing of power generation systems that connect mechanical energy to the grid. Based in Boston, this role is ideal for an engineer with strong experience in power distribution systems and a passion for renewable energy technologies.

You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to review vendor documentation, develop test methodologies, and ensure the successful integration of generation equipment into utility-scale and distributed energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Specify, source, and test power generation and power electronics (PE) systems to convert mechanical energy into grid-compatible electricity.
  • Create test procedures and conduct failure analysis for both existing and next-generation electrical systems.
  • Review electrical specifications, technical drawings, and vendor documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Perform electrical equipment sizing and selection, including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS systems, and other infrastructure.
  • Support the design of low and medium-voltage power systems and ensure safe, efficient system integration.

Technical Skills & Expertise

  • Strong experience in low and medium-voltage power distribution systems: power system design, protective device coordination, and power studies.
  • Proficient in creating and interpreting key electrical design documentation such as single-line diagrams, power and control schematics, raceway/wiring layouts, and grounding system plans used for installation and compliance.
  • Well-versed in electrical specifications for generators, motors, and transformers. Also experienced with switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.
  • Understanding of utility interconnection design and permitting processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE required)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical system design and power distribution
  • Hands-on experience in renewable energy systems (solar, wind, hydro, co-gen, etc.)
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills

Why GenH?

Be part of a fast-growing clean energy company that is redefining hydropower for the modern grid. In this role, you will have the opportunity to expand a transformative energy solution while shaping the commercial trajectory of one of the most exciting startups in renewable energy.
