Job Description
Trinity Christian College invites applications for a half-time faculty position in Studio Art, beginning August 2025.
Qualifications:
Masters degree in Studio Art or Design required. Experience in college-level teaching and scholarship is desired.
Trinity seeks faculty candidates who are professing Christians and are committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. Successful candidates will possess the ability to articulate the relationship between their academic discipline, the vocational preparation of their students, and a vision for human flourishing that emerges from the Christian faith. Successful candidates are also dedicated to personal involvement with students outside of the classroom through faculty-mentored research, advising, and other settings. Trinity particularly welcomes applications from candidates who have professional or personal narratives that reflect diverse perspectives, as well as those who have engaged with issues relevant to preparing students to work and live with intercultural competence and compassion.
Responsibilities:
This is a 9-month part-time faculty role. Primary responsibilities include teaching four art and design courses per year that serve the department and college needs and align with the area of expertise of the successful candidate. Desirable areas of expertise include painting, drawing, and sculpture. In their first year, new faculty participate in a year-long formation program that begins with a three-day institute in August.
About the Department:
The Art & Design Department offers majors in Graphic Design (BA/BFA), Studio Art (BA/BFA), Art Education, Art Therapy, and Digital Design. In recent years, Trinity Art & Design graduates have been accepted into Masters programs at the following schools (among others): Pratt Institute (NY), Otis College of Art & Design (LA), School of the Art Institute of Chicago, University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and Columbia College Chicago.
The Art & Design Faculty are active and engaged in the field, having published and exhibited their work nationally and internationally. They have research interests in conceptual art, social practice, the climate crisis, bookmaking, printmaking, and typography. Salary Range:
$22,250 to $33,250, based on degree, experience, and qualifications.
Timeline:
