THE WORK:
- You’ll be a representative for the client supervising the structures portion of the project committed to making certain that the project progresses efficiently.
- You’ll verify that inspection and documentation on the contract relating to roadway structures is generated and filed in general conformance to the Caltrans Construction Manual the Local Assistance Procedures manual and/or any Caltrans Bridge-related guidelines.
- You’ll direct and supervise field construction activities and staff office engineering inspection materials testing field contract administration and to act as liaison with clients/owners consultants contractors design professionals and regulatory agencies.
- You’ll work directly with and generally report directly to the Resident Engineer providing technical expertise required to properly administer the structural portion of the roadway work.
- You’ll read and interpret project plans specifications permits and other pertinent contract documents and make sound engineering determinations.
- You’ll generate and/or review contract change orders and requests for information relating to structure items.
- You’ll review submittals from the contractor relating to structure items, properly administer the contract's structures work and verify documentation on the contract relating to structures is generated and filed in proper order.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the pertinent contract documents and references specific to the project.
- You’ll resolve and or act as a facilitator of discrepancies or problems with the contract documents relating to structures and issues arising from structure field operations.
- You’ll coordinate and/or perform quality testing of the structure work.
Onsite at client site: The work location for this role is onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery and cultivate our client relationships
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- PE in California
- Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management OR
- Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in any course, but with an additional two (2) years of experience in Construction Scheduling to compensate for the required education.
- Minimum of five (5) years full time paid professional experience in roadway or highway inspection
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a lead worker in structure inspection
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in CALTRANS roadway/bridge construction projects
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:
- Have work experience in the Caltrans D12 district (Orange County)
- Understanding of falsework and shoring analysis and construction
- Understanding bridge 40-scale for bridge widenings or new bridge construction and deep foundations such as CIDH Piles or driven piles
- Knowledge and experience with the equipment used in structure construction inspection surveying field testing of construction materials and construction office engineering
- Knowledge of Caltrans Standard Plans Standard Specifications and Bridge Construction Manuals
- Experience in preparation of claims files, documents and reports and assisting in claims preparation and response
